I have a Pendle 4 bike rack in the garage, built like a tank and works OK with a rear door mounted spare (although requires some fiddling if you want to get 4 on with a spare on the back).
It's the older (much less orange!) version of the W4 rack: https://pbr.co.uk/products/wheel-support-rack |

Got one of these if you're interested.
Plate bolts behind spare wheel and stays in place, rack is then fitted/removed in seconds as and when req'd. You can even slip it into the back of the Landy while you're on your ride. 04' 90 Td5 CSW.. |

Hi Pendle is a option although would prefer something more Thule type.
Wheel / door mounts are out, I've already got a heavy 18" 285 tire on the back door, don't fancy a rack then a few 23kg E bikes. Cheers. |

How would it fit a XL DH bike etc?
I welded this up a few year ago but it was designed around the Ibis I had at the time... even tho it was a XL bikes have got longer and longer... Click image to enlarge Seen here again a few years later now sporting its lovely orange powder coating Click image to enlarge I have also enquired for a Dixon bate to make something like this, but the orange rack despite being totally solid I don't think is long enough for new gen of bikes. The orange rack is welded directly to a Dixon bate slider as seen here, so I could bolt the plate onto my Nas and run it but again... will the E bike fit?
Guess I could cut and modify but im still a little after paying close to £100 for it to be powder coated orange.. (not my colour choice, although new frame is orange? ) Click image to enlarge |

Custom may be an idea.
The wheel supports slide in and out on a Pendle, it can go as short as a bmx, but i’ve never tried a DH rig with big rake tbh. |

im thinking now to modify this or build v2...
it was just a bit heavy and awkward to attach, so if I lengthen it for the new gen of bikes and also somehow split it into 2 parts with a sleeve I can make it easier to attach. |
