I took each panel off and sprayed it, but that was because I was doing other work too. It is fine to just mask up everything and then spray, just removing parts like front grill, light surrounds, wing vents etc etc.

Im thinking about spraying my white defender.... but first I have a few questions...

A) is it sacrilege to paint over a white Defender?

B) if I do paint it I will invest in an air setup but looking at things online the pros "bake" the paint... I will obviously not have a fully heated spray booth so how does one overcome this issue?

I think, I will probably just paint the roof gloss black to match my newly painted headlight surrounds and front grill and wheels.

Hi Alex. Your defender looks great in the picture. I’m considering painting mine Matt blue. Just wonder how the Matt paint has lasted over the years. Have you any more pics. 1989 Land Rover 110 CSW

The paint has held up very well with nothing more than regular washing with a shampoo wax formula.

Cheers Alex. Some people seem to say that Matt doesn’t last but that seems to be holding up great. I’m considering spraying it myself (first time spraying a full car). We use the same brand paint in work so hopefully I can get some. Was thinking of something like this although it does not look as Matt as yours.

Nothing special and just sprayed it over the original paint that I had flatted back. Has been really good and no issues.
