Coolant Top Hose replacement type (Different?)
I ordered a new Top hose for my TD5 because it's weeping slightly on the joint where it attaches the head.
I replaced the part on the head as it was slightly corroded.
Also I replacing the thermostat and probably using jubilee clips as it seems most joints weep slightly.

The replacement hose is different....It has 6 extra metal band joints and hard plastic sections. Has anyone experience of this part or should I return it?
I'm not keen on all the extra joins or hard plastic parts.

Please correct me if I'm being a plonker and it's the wrong part Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Quite a few aftermarket hoses are made up in that way as it is cheaper for them to make up a lot of complex hoses without special tooling. I am using some of that type of adaptors to make the bottom hose on my V8 and the plastic bits are fine.

Be aware that you might want to replace the water outlet on the cylinder head though as I have had trouble with mine leaking for years. I fitted a new genuine outlet, genuine hose and replaced the spring clip with a proper JCS hi-grip before it stopped weeping. However the new outlet only lasted 3years before it corroded again and started weeping (I use the correct anti-freeze mix too).

I will fit it at the weekend and the new thermostat.
I have replaced the water outlet and it still leaks so thought I would replace the hose incase it's mishaped due to the old outlet.

I will replace all the spring clips as I note it's very wet with coolant.

I think I may invest in a low coolant alarm also just to be extra safe.

I also believe they are made up this way to prevent the re-occurring issue of them failing at the joints, like yours has.

Mine decided to split along the seam where 2 pipes meet just after new years and right at the top of Scotland Neutral

Also, word of warning; the main section of hose that replaced mine was a little too long causing it to kink between the blead valve and rad, despite being flush right up the connectors. Stuart
