Personally I've been a big Ford fan growing up at the peak of the hot hatch era, and for me Ford have missed a trick by not continuing those models.

Yes they've the Fiesta and Focus ST models and the halo RS Focus, but where was the sporty Mondeo? They had the ST models in the line up early on.

Every other manufacturer has a hot version of every model, so why havent Ford done the same?

i am waiting to see what Hot models nissan will produce, a sporty leaf with twin powered batteries, saying that the current one doe move as it is Shocked Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Rashers is spot on.
The Fiesta is the only Ford that's selling in big numbers these days and decline of the company car market killed the Mondeo.
Focus is certainly well down on where it was too.

I drove Fords as everyday cars from the mid 90's to 2016, great handling cars and reliable.
These days apart from the Fiesta and Mustang, the range is uninteresting.
The Bronco Sport would get me into the showroom, but they're not bringing it here.

It is really sad to see such an iconic brand in decline.

Up our end though, companies seem to go for nissan stuff, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

The whole SUV, mini SUV, Crossover thing is just bizarre - people seem to fall for the Emporers New Clothes syndrome more easily by the day - jjust look at the monstrous new BMW designs, etc.......

True Procta, but only if you could keep it in good condition and stop the rust moths Laughing

I occasionally watch Bangers and Cash, the show about the Classic Car Auction House. Derek who runs the place continually describes as delusional. They believe that a car if it is kept long enough will be worth a fortune. This is only true if it can be kept in a good condition. Many times they go and pick up a garaged car where the condition is not A1. The owner places a large reserve on it believing it to be worth £20k and it makes £4K and fails to sell. It is quite sad to watch sometimes especially when he tells them that their cash bucket is too far gone and will need a trip to the scrap yard.

That's very true, i am an ex metro owner and ya geezer, the salt air where i live really does cause problems! I lost count how many times i had to weld my vvc metro up for its MOT!
My peugeot has never missed a beat at all, only large bill it gave me was the rear beam last year, which i knew was on its way, but again these cars are pushing 20 years old, and this one was on its original beam. The beams on french cars do seize anyway. I have always jumped on her when she has needed stuff, She needs paint work, but we are looking at 2k plus to get that sorted, but she is in A+ working order. Laugh is my mate has had well over 10 cars to this one! He has never spent mega money on buying a car, and keeping it for years. He seems to buy cars up to 2k and then just bins them when they start costing money. I think Land rover owner ship will kill him lol, He is not keen on defenders, he has drove mine and said its like his mini to drive. But its not for him, i said you would love to pull this to pieces mind, its all spanners, screwdrivers and ratchets.

The Mondeo thing though, really has stirred the pot. loads of people have very fond memories of it, but most are not surprised that its been given the door. Me and my dad discussed it, and he said i thought it had finished due to not seeing any new versions on the road, but people are going for the SUV type cars like the 2008 etc. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
