Puller for intermediate output shaft
Does anyone know of a decent 2 legged puller to get the cup off the output shaft on a puma.
They seem to be in the region of £50-250
Don’t mind paying the money for a big Censored but worried it won’t fit in the housing.
What do people use?
I have access to a lift for a day so want to be prepared.
Cheers

Can you weld a couple of studs to it and use a slide hammer? This is how mine was done.

If you remove the extension housing from the back of the gearbox, access is very easy. I really cannot understand why anyone would attempt the job without removing the housing!

Thanks Black wolf. That makes sense to me.
Just assumed looking at some guides/vids that you can just persuade the thing off using a puller around the old cup either onto the housing or screwed onto the loosened nut.
I'm looking at doing it myself (with assistance) so any tricks appreciated. Naively quite looking forward to it really.

I think that sometimes they do just slide off, but they shouldn't and it probably isn't good news if they do. I have changed about 3, and always removed the housing and then used either an SP three-leg puller or an SP bearing separator, I honestly can't remember which (I think the standard 3-leg fits fine).

Getting the new one on can be more tricky, the manual says you should heat the "cup" to 100 deg Celsius before fitting, but some are still tight at this. Be very careful if you try to use the centre bolt to pull it on, as the washer can shatter, and you really don't want to risk damaging the mainshaft threads. You are better off fitting a threaded stud in the hole and using a plate and nut to pull it into place, or use a soft-face hammer.

Only people who enjoy pain and swearing would attempt the job without removing the housing! Rolling with laughter
