Underseal (dinitrol) question
So I bite the bullet and had the full Dinitrol treatment done for the winter (very pleased so far)

Question
How do I maintain / clean the Dinitrol coating? e.g. Is jet washing it a bad idea?
Any experience on this gratefully received.

Hello chiversn

I'm 18 months on from applying Dinitrol to mine...
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic10467-165.html

I have been really impressed with this product, no signs of degrading and the only areas
that have any surface 'damage' is on the jacking points, so self inflicted and to be expected.

I do power wash the underside, especially after 3hrs on the beach at Red Wharf Bay and
again the Dinitrol doesn't show any signs of not liking this even when at close-up range...

I also completely flushed out the chassis under pressure... taking a look inside with an endoscope
before and after... no brake down or apparent coming away of the Dinitrol... I really like this stuff... Exclamation

So overall I wouldn't worry, use a generally defused power washer (good for not blasting waster behind
rubber seals etc) and keep an eye on it over the years.

Hard off road use will shorten the time period before it needs a 're-fresh'...but I would say
you're good to go... Thumbs Up SKIP

Hello chiversn ...thanks

In the spring, our new addition (eriba caravan) will also get the Dinitrol treatment.

Although better protected from new by its German manufacturer than a Defender
I'm now sure Dinitrol is a good additional protective measure to take.

These two will do many miles across Europe in the coming years...

If you do use a pressure washer use a weak fan head or similar that reduces the force it produces and keep the lance tip as far away as you can.
It then keeps the jet from being too powerful.

Personally myself I don't like them due to water ingress and use water pressure hose spray instead.

I've had Dinitrol on mine for about 3 years, all good and probably good do with a top up now.

Never use anything that produces hot water and if using a pressure washer keep the wand moving and not in one place for extended periods. Steve.

An update for those still asking these questions. I pressure washed the underside today before fitting some mudshields after treating with dinitrol in August last year. It has taken off quite a lot of the dinitrol stone chip in the wheel arches. I had a fan head, but was trying to shift the lumps of mud and must of left in place too long. I will be topping up the dinitrol treatment in the summer with some warmer weather. Hopefully we are past the worst of the salt on the roads for this season....
