I only had a skim through the documents but the claims seem to be about the poaching of staff not the vehicle. WARNING.

Not exactly Zed, it’s about misappropriating (stealing) valuable confidential information.

From the linked document, it appears Tesla have strong evidence to prove the named ex-employees removed confidential information but they don’t appear to have any direct factual evidence to incriminate Rivian. Nonetheless this all looks very nasty for Rivian although in the USA clever lawyers can drag a case out for years and years.

Other than the claim ex Tesla employee joins Rivian and then gets a Tesla employee, who used to work for him, to jump ship with key documents he needs in his new job.

The sheer number moving from Tesla would worry me. Maybe they are not the greatest company to work for. Musk seems to utilise people like another asset that needs sweating.

Nice driving review:

Two things stuck out for me:

1. The way range disappears off road; and
2. It can be tow charged. If the truck runs low on power, you can pull it behind another vehicle and put some energy back into the battery.

For those that haven't seen the Long Way Up, this features a pair of Rivians as support vehicles for the Euan McGregor/Charlie Boorman Electric Harley bikes they ride.
You can tow charge the Rivians. 1999 Defender TD5 110

The rivians were more impressive than the bikes. Well worth a watch for those that haven’t seen it.

Given that the bikes were hugely impressive for prototypes that put the Rivan at the top of the list for me for anelectric off roader that actually works. It seems there is some hope after all. Even if it doesn't have a green oval on it. Lets just hope it arrives here at some point.

You can spend that on a new 110 no problem. Reasonably priced alternative.

I'm halfway through the series and have to agree. Rivian look like they have a winner and props to them for lending the first 2 prototypes to the show. It would have been a PR nightmare if they weren't up to the job. Harleys impressed me as well even with the issues. Battery tech needs to improve for remote touring but they would be fine most places. I read this today and it could be another leap forward: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/20...ging-times WARNING.

Amazon-backed Rivian scouts manufacturing sites in EU &
Now wouldn't that be something ~ built in the UK. 🇬🇧

"An Amazon-backed electric vehicle maker is scouting potential locations in the UK to build a new factory, it has been reported.

Rivian, which produces electric pick-up trucks and SUVs, is also looking at locations in Germany and Hungry, Bloomberg said on Thursday, citing unnamed sources.

The chosen site will first manufacture a delivery van for Amazon before moving on to producing Rivian models for consumers. The US firm is also looking at sites for the factory beyond Europe.

Rivian has hired commercial real estate company JLL to lead the search, with the carmaker hoping to begin production as soon as next year.

Talks of a new factory follow reports that Rivian is looking to go public at a valuation of $50bn or more. It was reported this week that Rivian has been in talks with bankers about the plans but that a final date has yet to be agreed.

The company has raised more than $8bn to date and counts Amazon, Ford, T Rowe Price, and BlackRock among its backers. It is believed to have been valued at around $27.6bn in its last funding round.

Rivian is expected to launch in Europe and the UK in 2022 with right-hand drive offerings. A guide price of its R1S SUV has been tipped to be around £70,000."
