Front seats recovered amongst a myriad of other jobs during lockdown/furlough. Britpart covers and foams fitted, heating mats added too, wiring needs finishing. 😄

Thank you, It's lots of little niggles really, nice to pick them off one by one!! I was lucky when I bought it the chassis and bulkhead were in such great condition (well that was the reason I bought it!), it's just needed a fairly light brush off underneath, I've got a Milwaukee 90 degree cordless die grinder which is frankly awesome. A combination of different abrasive discs/wire brushes has brought it up a treat. Fitted some non chequer plate wing top pretectors, the tops of the wings were properly stoved in from previous owners feet. I used rivnuts and countersunk stainless screws to fix them down. They were satin black originally but after a few days on there I decided I preferred body colour. Also had a go at the bonnet, I had damage from where at some point it had opened on the now removed roof rack. All rattle cans, bonnet needs more lacquer but it’s looking a whole lot better.

Gah..... Oil change today, thread stripped on the rotary oil filter housing... Managed to find a longer bolt in my garage with the same thread and this appears to be holding well at the moment, I'll probably get an 8mm tap and rethread both holes at some point! You might be better off helicoiling the stripped thread (the usual approach) since there isn't really enough material to go oversize.
The other bodge solution I have seen quite often is a long bolt with a nut on the bottom. |

Hmmm, maybe better putting the bolt coming up? Might be an easier fix for now rather than helicoiling etc.... 2003 Defender 110 TD5 SW

That looks amazing, did you go guided or navigate round yourself? Pondering which of the two to adopt ourselves..... am happy navigating elsewhere using Trailwise2, but the implications of being shot at by a tank when you misread it push me towards some help!!

My mate Matt who led the group knows the place very well indeed so we followed his route, I'd suggest going guided for your first visit, are you in the Salisbury Plain 4x4 Byways group on Facebook? There is some excellent information and knowledge on there and frequent guided trips out onto the plain.

Finally finished the heated seat installation, properly wired into the vehicle. I installed a six way fuse box in the cubby, powered from the fuse box under the drivers seat using the redundant ABS fuse. Three of the new fuses used, one for each seat and one for a USB socket. Three left for future additions! Recovered the manky steering wheel with a kit from eBay.
