Jump start required

Had to get the seat out and put the jump leads on my 1993 110 today.
My mates 3 month old Mazda had a dead battery. Only parked for 3 hours.

Total guess, but I think he may have pulled up, the stop start turned off the engine, and he got out and left it.
Just my guess.

New Patriot roof rack

Had a new Roof rack fitted today. Did lots of research on this forum (thank you) and decided to go with the Patriot as great quality and the ladder does not require any drilling. Very happy.

Picked up the newly blasted bonnet chequer plate. It now has a bow in it. I can only assume due to the heat.

Scotland 2002 Defender 110 Td5 DCPU Baltic Blue

Fitted a new battery to my dcpu
Before I could do that I had to break into the bloody thing, as the battery was dead, central locking therefore wouldn’t operate, then to add insult to injury, the key didn’t operate either of the front door locks Evil or Very Mad
Had to break the lock in the sliding rear window, remove the canopy to unlock the rear door from inside
Total dick dance Embarassed My confidence has been writing cheques that my abilities can't cash for years.

Had a similar problem with my Disco 2 a couple of weeks ago. Previous owner had changed the lock barrel on the door so that the ignition key did not operate the lock. Evil or Very Mad BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

Believe me, on the Defender there are much quicker and easier ways to get in, but I won't be airing them on a public forum. Shocked

Not quite so easy on a Disco2 with deadlocks, but still easier than it should be.

Unless you have a method of getting the electrics live, from the outside.

France 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Corris Grey

Popped to the tip for a Defender orgy.... Whistle

But these photos amplify what I love about pre-2016 ‘Defenders’. Three 110s, all different models, all different specs, all modified to personal tastes, all unique but all identifiably the same, iconic vehicle. No chance of that same variety with the 2020 Defender. JLR threw away one of the most attractive aspects of Defender ownership (modification/personalisation) ironically in an era where people are looking to mod and individualise unique vehicles (look at the success of Triumph) evermore. Ho hum.

Could hook a spare battery up to the alternator or starter terminals with some jump leads, that would power the system to enable you to power the central locking.

Or alternatively just pop one of the rear 1/4 light windows out, they can usually just be pushed in by hand.
