Presumably because the majority of buyers don’t need a rear locker, and if they all had every option they wouldn’t sell very many. Number of new G Classes which have ever had the diffs locked in anger must be in single figures.

Really? You have the data to back that up then?

The G has all the lockers fitted and they sell plenty, so surely the chest beating defender should sell even better as .....

Ah stuff it, bored trying to argue my point.

Think they sell around 15-20k per year of all varieties - so it’s very much a niche product - and the most basic one is £96k here. Never, ever seen a current one doing anything but posing around town (and I’ve seen a Velar pulling a tri-axle Ifor).

I agree that it was a serious omission not to have made the rear locker standard equipment, after all it is fitted on all Dynamic spec RRS’s and you don’t see many RRS’s going off-road Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

That’s going to be more about on-road behaviour.

Just got in touch with someone very well known in the Land Rover racing off roading world. Terrain response will handle 99% of off roading except the Rubicon and the Black Diamond trails at Moab, but he’s working with engineers in Solihul to get me an e locker or an air locker.

I had a choice between a stripped down no option p300 i4 engine defender with an E locker or a fully loaded p400 HSE with the coveted Adventure pack (roof rack has a 2500 person wait list 1 year back ordered) roof rack, snorkel step rails, leather interior, better stereo and wheels. I chose the fully loaded one. FYI I hated any aftermarket roof racks, I only want what I want and would have been disappointed without a roof rack, to respond in advance to “what about the aftermarket roof rack options chatter”

There's clearly something amiss there. If it's JLR's own, they should be able to give drawings to any number of companies and get the volume required within weeks.

it seems LR's supply chain is all over the shop, in Australia "back" or "restricted" orders are being applied
to the bonnet decal, ladder and RAI, so assume there are design changes afoot for the latter two, hence
why they cannot release any yet.

Roof racks are available, mine gets fitted next week, along with the mud flaps and recovery eyes.. seems
luck of the draw on what accessory will be fitted when at the moment depending on what territory you are in yet another pommie bar steward down under

I realize this is an international forum, but I’m talking about America. I went on cars .com last night and out of 2000+ defenders available across the USA, I counted 7 with roof racks! So no they aren’t available. 2022 Defender Trek Competition 110 collectors edition!

I had a look there this morning and I like that it lists full chassis numbers in the adverts. Thumbs Up

Not sure how I filtered the search as I could only get about 108 new cars to show and the lowest chassis number was 15,XXX and the highest was 25,XXX.
