Choosing hose clamps
I’ve got some BAS Silicone intercooler hoses, but the supplied hose clamps are pretty nasty looking no brand Jubilee style worm drive type. One has already failed to tighten properly, so I need something better.

Who makes the best quality Jubilee clamps? Still Jubilee or someone else?

I did look at Mikalor t-bolt type clamps but they have very small working range +-5mm or so and I’m not sure what size would be appropriate for what are pretty thick hoses.

Any advice would be welcome 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Agreed. The BAS clamps are lame. I had some more heavy duty versions ‘in stock’. Though
I don’t know the brand, they’re stainless though.

Another vote for Mikalors Supra in stainless. Easy to fit without distorting due to flip over fastening. Defender 90XS SW

Thanks all. The Hi Torque style worm drive clamps I don’t think are suitable for silicone hoses due to pierced holes in the band. I’ve read a few things that suggest this can cut the hose. Standard Jubilee Clio’s aren’t fully pierced but can’t be tightened so much.

With the Mikalors, how do I spec the size given they have very range of working diameters? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Find Mikkalors and their copies are terrible as they concentrate the 'clamp' on the bolted side........

Might just try the regular legit Jubilee stainless steel ones to begin with. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

To be honest unless you are building a race car then good quality pukka Jubilee's take a lot of beating IMO

This may be of help. Westfield stock most of the ones mentioned above.

I used Westfield fasteners jubilee clips for the silicone hoses on my previous rebuild, they are very good quality and the price was pretty good as well

so what would be the correct clamp size for the BAS silicon hoses?

Forgive my ignorance but I am thinking of replacing my standard hoses as well

Went standard Jubilee stst. Here's a comparison with the supplied hose clamp. Jubilee at the back. Should be much stronger.

Very interesting ~ not heard of these before.

As an aside, it was interesting to watch the video and see the issues they highlighted with silicone hoses.

Thumbs Up
