Mystery pumps?
Whilst mooching around the engine bay of my Land Rover this afternoon (as you do), I noticed these two pumps tucked into the offiside wing behind the power steering reservoir. They look to be original and also look like they've never been connected to anything - there are wires but no pipes.

Anybody got an idea what they're for? My first thought was headlight washers, but I've never seen them fitted to a Defender and two pumps seems like overkill Confused

EGR solenoids.

I assume your EGR has been removed.
