NAS Lights Fitment Issue
Gents

I have just finished fitting a set of genuine NAS Lights to the rear of the vehicle and have found that the
Rear door is in danger of smashing them if I open it too far.
I dread to think on what’s going to happen if the wind catches the door or if I park on a slope.

Is there an adjustment on the rear door that I am not aware of?

Surely this can’t be right, they are on Landrover plinths fitted in the correct position.

Any advice on this please.

Sorry, not sure how they have ended up oriented like that, technology confuses sometimes!

On the NAS Defenders, the lights were all fitted at the bottom. How you have it is non-standard. Maybe a gas door strut would help?

A comparable setup was used on the SVX specials, though.

To be honest, I've had NAS lights fitted on three different Defenders and the wheel always gets close. It's not an issue, though. Darren

This I believe is how the SVX lights were fitted so perhaps I should have said that then.
However, I surely can’t be the only person to have encountered this issue.
I have seen many on the forum fitting theses lights in this position.

Are you running larger than standard tyres, by any chance? Darren

I’ll have a look at that, I have the gas strut from another vehicle so may start there.

Hmm, on paper at least they're ever so slightly smaller than standard 235/85 16's. If your 18 inch wheels have a greater offset than standard then that might explain it.

It sounds a bit odd, to be honest. It'd be worth taking a look at the door stay to make sure that the stop is properly in place. Failing that, you could try adjusting the mounting of the body end of the stay forwards slightly, which could be enough to solve the problem. Darren

Thanks
I will have a look tomorrow and see where we go from there.
I do think that it is slightly odd though.

I remember that I've run into this issues when i first installed the NAS lights with the stock spare, but I honestly don't remember how we fixed it. There must have been a screw that allowed adjustments or we added spacers or something. I remember after fixing this problem the door would not open up all the way like before. These photos are before fixing the issue, I couldn't find ones after fixing it with the stock spare carrier.

Later on when I got a larger spare, I've already changed to a frame mounted tire carrier that can be adjusted so I adjusted the carrier. I found this photo while we were working on the door, maybe it would help.
