Few photos as promised, the control buttons for UG :

The DPF leds have been relocated on a small PCB glued to the main (not my best and cleanest piece of soldering but it's smalll and I have big fingers Whistle )

The trimmed plastic board on the left for the UG and on the right for the relocated leds :

DPF light guides originally cut off are then glued to the new location :

And here is the final result with also a few colored plastic sheets :

The temp and fuel needles are still an issue for me. For some reasons I ignore , sometimes they do position nicely and sometimes not. I just need to turn the contact ON and OFF a few times and they ultimately position themselves right...

Thanks again Mark. Great source of inspiration, and I would have never done it if not with your blog.

Great work. It makes me happy that others can benefit from the blog.
I don't understand the problem with your needles, hope you get it resolved.

I think we could see a lot more Defenders with this modification soon.
There will soon be one in the US too.

I have made a kit that allows someone to install without having to do any soldering

How do you get the gauge pointers for speed, revs and fuel guage etc. off their shafts? Do they just pull off ? I've given them a tug but they don't want to budge. I don't want to apply too much force for fear of damage. "You are never to old to learn something new"
