Put my name to this petition.Sooner these things have been banned, the better.

It's great to see see you have got off your bum and done something. The least I could do is sign the petition. Well done Bow down

Hi, I've never started a petition either, so I can't speak from experience.
But according to this https://petition.parliament.uk/help if the petition gets 10,000 signatures the govt are obliged to give a response and if it gets 100,000 it is considered for a debate in parliament.
If the original one does get a lot of signatures, you still need some mechanism to get the govt to take notice.

I know it is quite a big target, but with some luck you never know. Any publicity it gets tends to be self sustaining.
I suspect it could get a lot of support from all landowners, farmers, horse owners etc, as well as lots of people with no direct involvement.
If you are going to set up a govt petition, it is probably better to do it asap before the original one gets too many signatures.

Just my thoughts. If nothing else it bumps the thread. Good luck and well done either way. Thumbs Up

^^apt100 thanks that's great advise soooooo If i rewrote using parliamentary petition proceedure would you guys resign ? I am not a land owner or livestock owner I do have an interest in working canines. T.B.H I am just a townie who likes being in the countryside and I am sick of seeing litter as I wander around the countryside. I 100% agree the time to rewrite is now whilst there a as few original signatures
Also whilst digging around I found this link from the nfu if you follow it it sends an auto email to your local councillor it is very easy to do if you feel strongly enough Thumbs Up

I am not disagreeing with this petition or any of the reasons for banning them.
Only to say that there are eco lanterns made with 100% biodegradable material, paper and stick which burns away before reaching back to Earth. Surely better than helium filled plastic balloons that many party people use.

Thumbs Up

Last new year's eve in Germany a 60 year old woman and her two daughters used five sky lanterns, one of which caused a major fire to the ape house of a zoo - more than 50 apes/monkeys died Big Cry Evil or Very Mad

Sky lanterns are banned here since 2009. Obviously you can't ban ignorance and stupidity.

London-based company Night Sky Lanterns was hit by a Censored storm after they suggested to light "30 sky lanterns to remember this tragedy", abusing the catastrophic fire for marketing. Evil or Very Mad
