I bet foleys would snap that up, they seem to have done a few 6x6 rebuilds. Never to rusty for them either as everything gets replaced with galv bits.

Not really a 6x6 when it only has 4 wheel drive, is it. A bit like saying a write-off was in good condition before the accident!

I doubt spares for through-drive axles are easy to find.

I'd assume (knowing nothing about them) that it wouldn't be too much of a difficult task to remanufacture them if the buyer had turning/milling equipment?

Agreed that a 6x4 is fairly pointless though!!

You would have thought so as you aren't getting an air filter!

I imagine that fabricating a drive-through diff from scratch is actually rather difficult, it's worth a Google to see what is involved. I suspect that the drive-through diff assembly would have been the most valuable part of that vehicle, if only it was still there!

They do seem to be available though. I saw a picture posted by Foleys only recently of a pallet load of thru-drive axles. Darren

I'm fairly confident that that doesn't have a through drive diff. That rear axle is on backwards and has been modified to do so (dampers facing forwards but diff flange facing rearward).

Looks to me like it's meant to have a splitter box on the middle axle and then another propshaft from that. It's certainly not the same setup as my 6x6 which does have a through drive.

I was going off the description -

The seller wrote:
... currently a 6x4 as the middle axle broke so casing was moved to the rear
and a salisbury axle fitted to the centre, can be swapped back if the through drive axle pieces were found ...

I appreciate that but looking at the pictures it doesn't tie up with the setup on my Sandringham which genuinely takes drive through the diff pumpkin. It looks a bit more like a Foley setup which takes drive over the diff and back in through the rear. Ed

It's quite possible that the seller doesn't know what he's talking about. It wouldn't be the first time on eBay!
