Split Charge Fuses
After a number of issues with my split charging system, I’ve narrowed it down to the circuit breakers/fuses.

I’ve struggled to find what means of protecting the system people are using, but is it necessary to use circuit breakers like these: https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/waterproof-...akers.html

Or can I use a maxi fuse which will be considerable cheaper.

You will need the 500 AMp mega fuse that was there before between battery and starter/altenator

Also another fuse from secondary battery to the split charge relay - this should be around 200AMPs

Ones you posted are 100AMPS and manually trigger-able - depends on the system you have - most use a voltage sensing relay so as to not have to manually trigger any circuits

Sorry, should have clarified.

The fuses I need to replace are between the main battery and aux battery. They’re the fuses either side of the voltage sensing relay. Instagram.com/mattbuckley19

I just have a 100 amp strip fuse (I don’t know the proper name) at each end of the live between the two batteries. They’ve never given any trouble. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

It depends, to an extent, on the capacity of your split charge relay and wiring. When I built mine, I used 110 amp cable and 100amp maxi fuses either side of the VSR:

(Ignore the yellow 60 amp fuse - that's not related.) Darren

LRA, that's a very clean setup, does that fit in the battery box with 2 batteries? Instagram.com/mattbuckley19

Yes, just about:

The two vertical threaded rods are for the battery clamps. Darren
