Supacat, that is great, I like your solution the best. I wish I had waited a couple of days until seeing that! Oh well, my fix works ok and the whole thing can be removed very quickly/easily if I want to change - maybe to add a section of tracking!

as requested, added photo of bar end, which has a 90 degree bracket bolted through the hoop.

Hey

Mine's not perfect ~ the pivoting arm is not at an ideal angle and the wheel nut can come loose over time. Ideally, I'd like a trianglular bracket that could be mounted to the track with the Unwin studs:
