Seems a little rude to come in on someone else's thread, and take it off on a tangent

Yes, you are correct and I did go off on a tangent to what this thread is about, i'm sorry for that.

Last new defender sold in Australia was 2016 = years ago.

I wasn't trying to shut down anyone's opinion but when they are repeated over and over by the same people, we get the picture.

Perhaps a thread of 'Tell me why I should buy a New Defender and not something else?' would be useful ?

Hey, I had my tongue at least halfway in my cheek when I said "a little rude" Thumbs Up

I know you get the message, but maybe some of us are in genuine grief and slow going through the stages. This forum counts as therapy, so be patient and we will get there. In the meantime park us in the corner of the room, near a window and leave us to bark at the moon. Wink

There's things in the New Defender that I really want ~ autobox being top of the list.

Oh, and I'm loving the pictures of the new Defender in Namibia. It was a dream of mine to visit there and do the Skelton Coast. I'm just not sure the current custodians of the brand are doing it the service it deserves, in some of the social media posts?

Back on topic.

Saw that but who is their target audience when they they describe green lanes as "poxy"? Mad

Yep, we’ve driven the all-new Land Rover Defender. And not just down some poxy green lane, but across Namibia. So mark your diary for 25 March, set your alarm for 00:01 GMT and prepare for Top Gear’s full in-depth review and adventure."

assume the audience is those with more open spaces to give their vehicle some real world testing,
such as the US, Africa, Australia .. yet another pommie bar steward down under

Sorry - I should have made it clear - I was referring to Top Gear not JLR.

well Top gear is a global phenomenon, maybe they (LR) wanted to make sure it had an appeal / approval
that would connect to a broader audience than the UK.. yet another pommie bar steward down under
