Robotic Lawn Mowers
My trusted Honda walk behind mower is now over 25 years old and beginning to show its age (just like the guy that walks behind it Laughing ). Rather than go for another Honda walk behind I'm tempted to go for a robotic lawn mower and I'm looking in particular at the Husqvarna.

Does anyone have any experience of robotic mowers, pros and cons etc. Defender 90XS SW

We've had a Husqvarna 330X for about 6 years now.

It's been absolutely brilliant - once you get it set up you really can just leave it to do it's thing and not have to worry about mowing the lawn ever again Smile Because it mulches the left over grass the lawn ends up looking better than with a traditional mower too.

Only con is that it doesn't mow right up to the edge, so every now and then you need to strim the very edges of the lawn, but depending on how your lawn is laid out you may not have to do this...

Hi I’ve just popped out and looked as I knew it was a Husqvarna but wasn’t sure of Model, no issues to mind keeps the part of the lawn it does beautifully short and as mentioned it mulches took a while to get used to the headlight though as it mows overnight very clever bit of kit in my opinion and as mentioned once set up you can forget it Thumbs Up Paul

Setting it off in the daytime and watching it trundle round is remarkably relaxing as well, especially with a cold beer Very Happy

Thanks for your responses, all of which are very positive. I've already had a quote from our local Husqvarna dealer so I'll be placing my order tomorrow. Thumbs Up

I like Jonny's idea of sitting back and watching it whilst downing a cold beer or two Cool Defender 90XS SW

When we first got ours we had someone out to install it, we've since moved house and I installed it in the new place myself - it's not at all complicated...

If they want a lot of cash to install it then I'd seriously consider DIY Smile

Also - depending on your lawn size, some other makes are Husqvarna's rebranded - eg. Flymo and can be considerably cheaper.

What kind of range does it have? (Honestly a serious question)

I looked at them a while ago because I have a rather large lawn (about 4 acres Embarassed) and the guest driveway is about 400 yards long so would it know to return before running out of juice Laughing? Ed

Sako I think you need a flock of sheep, not a robotic mower, then when they start to loose their efficiency you can even eat them......... unlike a battery powered mower. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Had some over the winter - problem is the grass is so good they get the trots and leave smelly green stuff everywhere.

Then one sod got out when I took the dogs out in the morning. After spending an hour in my dressing gown trying to get the sod back in I gave up and phoned up Mum asking permission to terminate it with the .243 and the quick response was Dad's on the way to bring them back to the farm Laughing

It's not too bad on the ride-on now I've got both blades at the same height - only takes a morning or so. Lawn looks much nicer than with lamb on it. Ed

Hmm 🤔 4 acres, I can’t help with the range however what I can say is the 450X is suitable for up to 5000M2 (1.25 acres) and self docks when it requires charging as mentioned never had any issues with this one but also have a small garden tractor and walk behind for the other garden areas, but I’m sure if you speak to one of the dealers they will answer your question re the size of lawn you require being mown👍 hopefully they will be able to help Thumbs Up Paul
