Hello Def2 world.
I'm about to order a set of Wolf wheels later today as my dedicated winter set. I've heard rumours that they need a specific stud. Is this true or can I use my standard alloy bolts (of which I have two sets, one black....). Just want to make sure that when they arrive, I can actually fit them. 50cms of snow coming soon....

No, you need steel wheel nuts. There are lots of posts about this subject. Despite the fact that standard studs do not protrude through the wheel nuts when using Wolf wheels, there is no need to change the studs. Vehicles were dispatched from the factory like this and they're absolutely fine. Be sure to torque them up correctly though, which for Wolf wheels is 170Nm. Darren

Whilst that was a tragedy, there's no indication why the wheel came off in those story's nor any suggestion that it relates to what this topic is about. They're not even the same wheels. Darren

As stated if torqued to 170nm they will be fine, the military swapped its old 90/110 fleet to wolf steels and added a plate in the cab stating the new torque setting, I never had any wheels come off the fleet.

I followed up that case and there was no charge brought towards the driver.
Apparently there was a metallurgist who was called to inspect the Disco, but it took him 5 months to turn up! As I initially said, there's no need for the longer studs |
