I saw this in another thread. Made sense to me

Personally I would not for one second consider returning the gunk that drains out of the Provent into the sump. I know that it can be done, but once you've seen what comes out of the Provent (a mix of condensed oil vapour, condensed water vapour, and blow-by byproducts), you won't want to either.

As i said it is just out of the crank case (as it is an alternative crank breather system)

The point of the Provent is separate oil droplets from the crankcase fumes before returning the fumes to the inlet. This is exactly what the standard system is meant to achieve but doesn't do it well at all. Hence the standard system feeds a lot of oil vapour into the inlet tract/turbo/intercooler.

Since fitting my Provent the intercooler and hoses are spotlessly clean.

I currently just have a section of capped pipe on my Provent drain which i empty periodically. It is just normal used engine oil. If there is anything other than oil in it then it has originated from inside the engine. There certainly shouldn't be any measurable amount of water in it!

I might run my own drain back into the sump next time i have the sump off so i can drill and tap a suitable fitting in although i quite like being able to monitor the amount of oil collected vs. mileage The one way valve mentioned is to stop engine oil being sucked back from the sump through the Provent due to the negative pressure in the inlet during engine running.

Running crankcase fumes back into the engine once the oil droplets are removed isnt an issue. After all, combustion gasses did come from the cylinders! Venting to atmosphere just makes a closed system open and is not what the Provent is intended for and is a needless engine emission to the environment.

This looks amazing to me - and maybe more proof that having this closed loop without engineering in a trap/filter just creates new issues for the owner down the line.

This issue goes all the way back to 2016 engines.

HPD catch can...
Have been searching for a while to find a decent, well made catch can, this arrived today from OZ. It was expensive, but the quality is outstanding. Wire mesh filters, can be cleaned, with a dipstick. Brackets to fit in front of the expansion tank Thumbs Up

Looks like a smart package . The Provent is a little large really and limited in options as to where to put it .
This plug and play system will be far simpler to fit ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/
