Defender had its doors stolen Newark Northgate train station
https://www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk/news/do...r-9090979/

"Police are appealing for information after a Land Rover Defender was vandalised last night.

The black vehicle was parked at Newark Northgate train station yesterday and when the owner returned last night, the doors and bonnet had been removed, as had the light bulbs.

Inspector Heather Sutton, district commander for Newark and Sherwood said: "I can’t even begin to imagine the shock and devastation to the victim to return to their vehicle to find it in that state.

"It fits within the autocrime problem the district is suffering.

"In October I made autocrime the priority for the district and since then we have undertaken a variety of activity to tackle this, such as patrols on the A1, plain clothes patrols in the estates, covert tactics and crime prevention work."

Anyone who has any information should contact the British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting ref: 826-20112019

Gutted for them, this is crazy and is happening far to often for my liking.... when will someone give the police the resources to do something more meaningful than appeal for information.... @steve_overland on Insta.

Would you approach a group of undesirables stripping a vehicle in a car park?
At least body panels/vehicles can be replaced! > 110 XS Double Cab

So disheartening... probably now written off.

All you can do is fit the security options much discussed on D2N
ideally park in an area covered by CCTV and know that you could if required
rely on your insurance.

Yes I would, but if not start filming them whilst phoning police.

What winds me up are the American builds you see on You Tube, one even has a 24hr live feed of their workshop.

They import a 25 year old stock vehicle, rip it down to the chassis then build it back to look like a Puma look a like, new doors, bonnet, interiors etc etc then sell them for $130k plus dollars.

A number of Brits seem to have connections with these business's in the US. I am not saying that there is anything untoward but I cant image that JLR are still building panels to satisfy this demand.

JLR are apparently unwittingly helping in other ways:

"Keys stolen from Jaguar Land Rover plant used to jail London crime lord

Nine sets of keys taken from a Jaguar Land Rover plant have been linked to a massive London crime spree.

The keys, taken from JLR's huge Lode Lane plant in Solihull, formed a major part of an investigation into a crime boss who has been jailed and ordered to repay more than £1.3 million.

They were among 19 vehicles worth more than £700,000 found by officers after Chirag Patel was arrested in the capital.

The 40-year-old is now serving an eight-year jail sentence for conspiracy to handle stolen goods and possession of criminal property over car thefts and burglaries in the capital between October 2012 and January 2015."
