Hi Guys
I’ve stripped the axle down to find that I have two different CV’s , one is smooth the other has Serrated ridges. Which is correct for a 2.4 110 Puma or are they both acceptable ? Why the ridges ? Also I can’t remove the swivel from the half shaft / cv even though I’ve completely stripped it down , it’s come up hard against something hard when I try to pull it out ! Even removed the swivel seal to inspect but can’t see why ! Unless it’s utterly FUBAR !! Click image to enlarge https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Thank you Dorset, can I use an ABSCV in a non-ABS swivel?

Perfect thank you ! Just what I wanted to hear , no idea why it had one of each , more worryingly the ABS one has the dreaded Britpart stamp on it ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

For Tdi upto including TD5 the replacement CV joint is usually a default ABS toothed version to make it easy to replace as it doesn't matter if a non abs has a abs CV.
The circlip is a blighter to get off but a large hammer does it. For the Puma CV's as per the parts book the replacement CV is a 'as one' unit with a new inner shaft included. I haven't for science tried to see if retro fitting will work or not. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest |

Thank you Dorset, isn’t that circlip for holding the CV to the half shaft ?
I’m trying to slide the whole unit CV with half shaft out from the Swivel housing , the darn thing won’t budge ! The other side slid out with a bit of a wiggle . There seems to be some damage to the internals of the swivel housing with some metal sward evident https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Yes - it takes a surprising whack to get the half-shaft off. Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |

It’s well clear of the swivel bearings . It’s almost as though the half shaft has got thick or the hole has got smaller ! It’s stuck just before the collar of the half shaft , comes out of the swivel by an inch then jams solid !
If I were able to get it far enough out I could clout the CV off and pull the half shaft out backwards through the swivel instead . Just order a new swivel as the other is clearly not right !! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |
