Mystery connector in RH Wing 2003 TD5 110
Hey all

Don't seem to be able to easily find ref to this but I bet someone on here will know what it is straight away.

While re plumbing a leak in my snorkel I have discovered a multipin connector just dangling in the wing. I just want to make sure I haven't accidentally disconnected something important. I seem to still have headlights and the car runs but wondering what it could be for?

Dim dip resistor connector, probably disconnected to disable the cretinous dim dip system that afflicts British cars of a certain age. You may find the resistor up under the wing still.

Thanks, puts me at ease... I doubt it was something dislodged then as that would have caused havoc with my led conversion!

Cheers

Cretinous dim dip was 1987-1990 isn - so would this marry up with Td5 era? JB

My 1994 300tdi had this so it continued well into the 90s, sure it ended by introduction of td5 though... my 2004 td5 does not have it.

My 2007 Puma had it, although by then it was only fitted to N1 category vehicles (the M1 had headlight adjustment from the dash).

The fact that dim dip wasn't fitted doesn't mean that the harness wasn't fitted. If the OP's vehicle is a CSW I doubt it had dim dip, and it is likely that the connector has never been connected.
