Td5 air conditioning illumination?
Hi, I believe the control panel is supposed to illuminate on the air conditioning, can anyone confirm this?
Edit
After more googling I found this useful link on another forum, it seems it is supposed to be illuminated, however it looks like the bulbs are soldered in

https://www.lrukforums.com/threads/defende...nt.246129/

Unfortunately no information on what bulbs were used as replacements...

Thanks

Mike

OMG! I have never seen the A/C unit illuminated, thought it was always just dark.

This is good, and bad all at the same time. Now I have to figure out how to get buns and get the lights working. Big Cry it's a Landrover thing...

Mine used to light up after a few taps. Doesn't do it anymore.

Sorry! I never realised they were illuminated either until I found a post about it by accident, damn internet! Laughing

It's a relatively easy job to do but just don't know what bulbs are required at present so slightly frustrating!

Think these may be ok but not sure?

i think I posted some pics a few years ago. the bulbs are not easy to change as they are small capless bulbs that are soldered in place.
Patrick

here is the link...it wasnt me that posted pics though......

Some useful information here thanks Thumbs Up

So the bulbs are 12v / 0.5watt types so those in the link I put in should be ok according to the tech spec? https://www.rapidonline.com/barthelme-2110...en-57-6825

Yup same here, lack of illumination on the AC switches. Mind you coming from a 1992 Defender before this 2003 I was completely oblivious for at least 18 months to the fact that the heater controls on the dash were meant to be illuminated Whistle Rolling Eyes

Sigh. Another job for the list Whistle

As the lamps are soldered to the board then they're ideal candidates for an LED. Don't forget the series resistor... R=(Vs-Vf)/I where Vs = 12V, Vf = the forward voltage drop of the LED and I = the desired current for the LED.

Hi all, as an update, I managed to source some 2.5cm Led strips in the blue and green colour, they are 12v rated so no issues with having to get resistors too.

I purchased these from eBay so will see how they go, just needed to cut the wires down to the required length and solder on, seems fine so far and nice and bright.

Most of the single led bulbs that I could find were lower voltage so you would need a resistor too, the strips seemed like an easy option, I assume they have a resistor built into the strip circuit.

Hi MikeC. Can you provide some details on the led strips and the fitting please?

This appears to be "the solution"... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
