All it took was the application of a bit of brain power and science! Can't wait to see if the new Defender can be fixed as easily. Congrats on a job well done. Wonder if you had left it in to a maindealer for a fix how much they would have charged. Laughing 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

They would probably have suggested a new bulkhead and charged a gazillion pounds. Darren

Whilst it didn’t feel like it at the time, it is quite satisfying to rescue the hinge from near disaster and there is seemingly no evidence the self inflicted damage ever happened. I’m sure I’m a better person for the experience Laughing 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Given the force you had to use to fix it, how on earth did you bend it in the first place?

I really don’t know. I only noticed it when the bonnet wouldn’t close easily. I was investigating changing the bonnet hinge bushes so maybe I inadvertently unseated the bonnet from the hinge, then when I closed the bonnet it bent the hinge? Not sure. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

If I want to remove a bonnet I get the wife to give me a hand. She takes one side while I take the other. Then you do a sort of waltz over the engine bay and a nifty turn or swivel and place the bonnet in a safe place.
Refitting as the say is the exact opposite. You start with a coordinated lift and then a swivel and a waltz back over the engine bay.
I find it very romantic. It is the only time I dance with the wife... Mr. Green 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
