LED headlight installation question
I'm going to try these LED headlights:
https://www.stedi.com.au/stedi-7-inch-carb...ight.html#

As far as I can see there is only the three-way connector going into the existing headlight,
but there is an extra red wire on the back of the LED headlight (see picture attached).

Anybody know what that might be for, and if it's redundant, what to do with it?
I'm an electrical n00b, so even the most basic advice appreciated.

Cheers in advance

On the product page it says 'The integrated optional halo DRL can be wired to ignition or to a dedicated switch to illuminate to offer day-time safety.'

Would that be what the red wire is?

The original 3-pin has no facility to connect a side light or DRL or yes I would imagine that 12V on that red wire illuminates the DRL.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Sweet, cheers for that. There goes my plan to install them myself - will look for an auto sparky.

Hah! Yes that's an option I guess.

Don't fancy a loose wire hanging around in there for some reason.
Maybe a touch of OCD.

A 1pole superseal connector capped would be suitable.

You could also take a feed from the sidelights givin you a DRL with sidelights only,
Then you have a sidelights DRL, Dipped and Main.

Ideally you sidelight should be LED as well though and you can get a piggyback loom to plug straight in lie Brendan at 4x4 Overlander has. Thumbs Up Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

FYI I am meeting up with an auto sparky on Monday morning to help put all the lights in.
Will discuss the suggested DRL solution with him on the day, and post an update once it's done.

DRLs connected to the side lights - look good!
The smoked lights look good all round too.
Cheers again for the advice on here.
