Thanks very much for persevering with this Thumbs Up

I have just taken the screw out and I think it is cosmetic.

I have taken the nuts off the back.

And, the bolts are fixed rigidly in place and I can't get the black cover to separate from the light unit

I shall have a look at mine tomorrow and work out how it fits, I forgot as it’s been on there a while! 2007 2.4 90 fettled & remapped.

To OP. Cannot see it in your posted picture, but if the one you have bought is the version with 6 ordinary LEDs, I would not even bother installing it. You will get a blue'ish light, and fair chance that some of those 6 LEDs quickly will die. I'm not the only one who had that experience. Much better to install a WIPAC LED number plate lamp, 4 high quality Cree LEDs with crisp warmer white light. It is available on ebay from MPS trading, link below. It is a few years ago now, but I remember it was an easy install on the standard plinth.

You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Shame, I was enjoying this thread. CarMan, I certainly think you've taken the easy way out, there was loads more mileage in wondering how to get the Bearmach fitted. Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Rolling with laughter but the story hasn't ended yet.

The supplier WildCat have just said they will send me the Wipac lamp after comparing them and finding the bolts are twice as long Very Happy

I'd call that excellent customer service Bow down

Can anyone tell me what size bolt I would need to fit the light without the plinth? LR workshop just calls the original an M5 bolt but as it's not threaded all the way I'd rather get a new one that fits rather than cutting down the original.

TIA Thumbs Up
