Bearmach LED number plate light conundrum
I ordered a set of smoked rear fog and reverse lights with WIPAC rear number plate light (all LED) from WildCat and they were out of stock of the WIPAC number plate lights so I willingly accepted the substitute Bearmach item as it wasn't branded. They were great to deal with by the way, but are currently away until Monday.

Anyway, I can't work out if I have lost the plot somehow (highly likely btw), but I can't see how to fit the Bearmach number plate light so have reverted to my Bolt-On-Bits one, which I must say appears not to be such nice quality, but looks and works fine.

Fundamentally the problem is the Bearmach light unit appears to be bonded so I can't get the bolts out and they are not nearly long enough to fit through the plinth and into the tub. I did think of fitting it without the plinth direct to the tub but the wiring coming out the back of the lamp prevents that from sitting flush so would mean drilling a new central hole in the tub which I'm not prepared to do Rolling Eyes

Also, it has bullet connectors so have bought the correct Sumitomo connector for the Puma harness.

So, has anyway else fitted this and if so am I missing a trick here Question

If not, soon to be for sale elsewhere in a separate listing in the correct place of course Thumbs Up

Thanks. Rob

I don't know if these are the same, but there is a handy fitting instruction here:

Thanks, PUX146.

Thanks Danny but it's different as you cant access the bolts in the Bearmach one as they they are inside the lamp unit which appears to be bonded.

Hmm, mine fitted, without the plinth without any issues, just wired them into the existing circuits.

You have taken the screw out of the front? I would guess it’s a standard off the shelf light and they don’t have longer “studs” for the Defender number plate spacer. Maybe they expect you to do away with the “spacer”?!?

I have taken the screw off the front but the light unit itself appears not to come to bits to release the short bolts. It is sold Defender specific so had assumed it would fit with plinth, but I'll ask WildCat who supplied it as their customer service has been good. Not a major issue obviously, but just wanted to get to the bottom of it . . . . . . .

I've just looked up bearmach number plate lights on google and they all look to have the screw on the front, so if yours has, just unscrew it and take the black plastic cover off and the bolts can be removed to put your old longer ones in. Ray

Thanks very much for persevering with this Thumbs Up

I have just taken the screw out and I think it is cosmetic.

I have taken the nuts off the back.

And, the bolts are fixed rigidly in place and I can't get the black cover to separate from the light unit

Where the black cover is at the back is there any little tabs to lift up which may be holding the cover on? Ray
