MoD..?
Anyone who knows if your Ministry of Defense is interested in the new "Pretender" as a general purpose vehicle? A contract like that will give good figures for the company..? Rolling Eyes (The Norwegian army is buying VW Amaroks these days... Big Cry )

It's highly unlikely. For white fleet, they seem to have already gone over to cheap pick ups and for combat they favour bigger vehicles, these days. Darren

I believe the reason that they stayed with the TDi Defenders was that they had no fancy electronics to get wiped in the event of a nuclear attack. They went as far as to re-engine old ones to keep them going until TDci came out and one reason for continuing to buy they disappeared - they became too complex electronically to be repaired on the battle ground. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I guess it may be too expensive to de-spec these and issue more widely:

Although, if manufacturing was picked up under licence by a major player, it might be possible...

I understood they used Defenders for so long was because they fit in the helicopters. A lot of newer vehicles are too wide.

Yup, there are air portability procurement specs out there, but making that work on the volumes that would be ordered has proved challenging.

Or so a bloke I know in the pub said he was told by someone who sells eggs to someone who has a cousin who knows......

If you are careful and grease the sides, it's amazing what will fit...

Previous versions have had JLR underpinnings/components, not sure about this one.

On the subject of new multirole stuff, here's the replacement for the Humvee looking all lovely....

MOD are considering these to replace (some of) the Iveco Panther fleet that they decided they didn't want.

(Note they didn't take a pic from the front, as it has a face only its mother could love)
