Propshaft fitment
I have bought a rear propshaft FRC8392 by mistake (its too short) and before I pay to send it back I wondered if I could use it on the front instead?
I have FRC8386 fitted on the front at the moment which measures, roughly, 640mm when its fitted.
FRC8392 measures 635mm when closed and 670mm when open.
Or should I just pay the postage to send it back?
Should mention I have a Disco 200tdi and gearbox fitted, hope all that makes sense!
Many thanks. BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

It depends what length the front prop goes to on full bump. If it's less than 635 then prop is too long. If your std height it's prob ok. Rear prop only has 15mm movement from full bump to droop on a 90 with a 2" lift. Cheers

Standard height. Out of interest when the propshaft is fitted in the "normal" road going position how far extended should it be from fully closed ? I presume when the suspension compresses the propshaft will also compress (get shorter), is that how it works? BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

yep it compresses when the axle goes up. total movement on a rear vehicle with a lift and dislocation suspension on my 90 (+5" shocks) was 15mm.

so if yours sits at 640 front normal i doubt it compress 5mm on full bump there fore the prop you have that compresses to 635 should be ok. not ideal though. Cheers
