Yes l was involved in that thread and was going to change it as a service item until l found out that the part is £400 plus fitting.
Now l want to know if l really need to change it. |

But understand your question, I did 186thou in my previous Td5 without any probs and it always chirped. Don’t all Td5s chirp? |

A chirp when you stop the engine can indicate a worn harmonic damper.
But it’s only what l have read. |

Our Td5 also chirps regularly but the damper is still OK. Turner engineering has them for £145.

I have just had the same dilemma, Mine chirped on switch off, for other reasons i took out grill, intercooler and radiator, removed belt and inspected HD as best I could (there was no play in it at all and the rubber looked as new).So I just replaced belt, both idlers and tensioner and now chirp has gone.
