Having done several runs to and from pompy averageing 170ish miles each way I’m doing the trip in about a 1/3 of a tank so I must be close to 30 mpg in Buggsy, makes no real difference if loaded or not and the whacking great roof rack doesn’t seem to effect it, I normally sit around 55-60 and am driving in stupid o’clock hours. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Just now with cold engine, short trips and on my (now) winter tyres of 750 XZL’s, I am getting 25-26 to the gallon. In the summer on a run and wearing its 750 Latitudes, I can get 31-32, but as I say, that’s on a run. Standard Td5 90 but with full-size Brownchurch roof rack.

Caterham has some high claims and I have tried to match them which I can for short periods of time, but it needs to be in the 1500-1750 RPM range and between 30 and 50mph, you will be surprised what can be achieved if you try to drive in this range.

Unfortunately I cant do it for long as I get fed up quickly.

notably both myself and Caterham have 2011 2.4s DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

I think ill start a tally of what im spending and how many miles im getting - I do reset the counter each time I fill up. And usually get between 230-280 a tank.. Regards

I get around 300 to a full tank in my 110 (but always find the needle for the fuel gauge drop quicker from half to 1/4 than full to half) 1999 Defender TD5 110

Agreed - I fill right to the brim! and get nearly 60 miles from past the full mark to the full mark, but then between full and 1/4 its like 180 miles... Regards

The fuel gauge on the Td5's are very non-linear, I might get 100 miles+ from the first quarter then only about 50 or less from the last. My previous one was just the same, not much more than a rough guide really, better than nothing though Smile

On a high note, I was away over the weekend and came back from Canterbury, plus a bit of running around and got 350 miles from a full tank (49.3 litres to the brim,) of Morrisons finest regular diesel, = 32.26 mpg Thumbs Up

Nice! That's good going that. I'm going to make a conscious effort to start recording my fuel stats. Regards

I have been firmly in the red at the bottom of the gauge and still running.

2005 TD5 110

But l normally fill up when it gets to half full, as it definitely rides a bit better with the extra weight.
