*sarcasm off.

Parked next to one at Doncaster rail station yesterday. Driver was apparently transfixed with their smartphone and didn't acknowledge me for the full 10 mins he was waiting to collect his passenger.

Looking at a 1968 series 2a as well tho! Tax exempt and ULEZ exempt too!! Very Happy

Same here, Censored *ng livid when i found out £12.50 a day is ridiculous thats, £3K a year assuming i drive to work every day!

Ah well at least i don't have to pay the congestion charge...

Honestly the only way to get the emissions down is to forcibly deport people, Stop all construction work, or stop london being so densely populated, All of which mean crashing the economy.

To begin with, the issue won´t arise. They (the new Defenders) will be cruising the cities and ´burbs, where, by then all current (Euro5 or less) Defenders will be banned.

Its Euro 6 required, so no defenders at all... I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

Does that mean my 1969 diesel IIA is less polluting than a modern Defender? Shocked

This pic might suggest otherwise. Embarassed

I think they are safe that there aren't too many Series Land Rovers on the road, and those that are are only used high days and holidays (like most other classic vehicles). So if yours 'sweats' a little, it has very little effect on the surrounding area unlike a daily use vehicle.

NOPE!
Likely to be driven by wannabe ageing hipster, who don't get why a defender is what it is and haven't done the time. The defender can't evolve like this and certainly not at the behest of money men. Twisted Evil

Not sure if I would! Reason being the 'landy wave' is a gesture of shared experiences of owning a very unique vehicle with all its discomforts and troubles add to that most owners of this mark have at some time took it apart some having more or less rebuilt their Defender.

Faced with most owners of the 'new Defender' who will sit in a modern vehicle with all its comforts and no doubt similar to a lot of the other owners in the LR range never off road or use them as their purpose was designed for.

With the exception of the few dedicated to the brand who may well shell out tens of thousands to own a clone similar to many other 4x4's on the market except this will be branded a Defender. The rest who own the new vehicle will have no history of the true LR to them it will be just another car.

So I doubt I will wave, however, should the occasion arise where a New defender owner waves at me then out of courtesy I will wave back, however, I am not holding my breath. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

If the new Defender is anything like the rest of their current range, I'll be waving as you never know when you're going to need a hairdresser, so it pays to be polite to them....
