I only got one on and decided the studs were too shot to continue. However from the sounds of it they may be OK so will try again, then use the satnav to see how accurate it is. Hopefully more accurate than the fuel guage! Shocked Whistle James

Thanks. The tyres are Cooper ST Maxx 235/85R16. They are standard size but look huge next to the little 205's.

and your speedo will read low i.e speedo show 30 mph your road speed 35 mph if the speedo drive gear is yellow to match 205 tyres Question (205 80 16 to 235 85 16)

You should be alright on the front axle with the Wolf wheels, however if you still have the drum brakes on the rear then the studs will probably come up a bit short.

Oh cock! It was a front I tried and thought studs were too short. It does have drum brakes I assume (1984) so might need further work Big Cry James

Love 'em James.

I've got the military studs, cost a fortune. They will restrict you to steel wheels, (in case you want alloys in the future) as the alloy wheel nuts don't work with them

You'll need a deep 27mm socket.

Regardless of what people say, I did it for MY peace of mind. Last year a young girl got killed when a wheel flew off a Disco and hit her.
Over torqueing the wheel nuts may stretch the studs.... A common issue on drift cars with frequent wheel changes and pit muppets whacking them up tight... The studs snap with the wheel taking orbit

That's exactly what concerns me Greeni, not something I want to get wrong. The extended ones are 60mm long but looks like these are far too long. I think I saw some 45mm long, are these what you have? Do you have a link? Smile James

Without going measure (it's peeing down and I'm in my Cookie Monster comfy pants), I'd say they're the longest.
I had them from LRS, Derrick

My Ninetys are on original spec 205's, as the little 2.25 petrol engines don't seem like larger diameter tyres, but your V8 should have no trouble pulling the larger diameter.

Is your speedo reading still accurate?

Mine is on 205’s with the original Rostyle wheels, trundles along nicely at 55/60 on the Motorway, a nice speed for this vehicle and quite relaxing.

Was just about to reply that my 90 V8 factory was overgeared when fitting 235 85 x16s - but as it was an original V8 and had a 1.19 ratio transfer box - I imagine yours has a 1.4 and will be perfect.

Also re wolf wheels, the Heritage Edition didn't use the longer studs so I assumed that would be good enough for me. Still irritates me and my sense of what should look right usually is right though!

Hi
That's pretty much how the nut/studs look like on my 110 and our works 130 (fitted new from the factory). 2010 XS USW

The green wheel above is correct, and how they came out of the factory. However the extra thickness of the drums on the rear can cause them to not reach that level of engagement.

There used to be an ARC rule about wheel studs, them as above with the line across the end were the solution to the old problem and were deemed acceptable.

The military version are overkill...

Just test fitting one wheel with finger tight nuts without torquing was getting nowhere near that much thread. OK they would probably pull in a little more done up tight. But I'd rather be safe than sorry so a set of extended studs are on order Very Happy James
