I've had mine replaced for new this year, thenew type.
My old one was fine but seal started to go.

I also had it Dinitrolled originally, I see on the Dinitrol pages it says not to use it on sump pans etc as I would assume due to flammability if not fully gassed off.

What have others done with theirs? I see Waxoyl mentioned above which is similar.
Had anyone else used a rust proofing agent on theirs?

You can use dinitrol corroheat. I’ve used this on new engines and it’s been good. Film stays tacky for a few weeks though until fully gassed out.

cheers, Steve

Eric - It isn't me saying it it's on the Dinitrol pages online and on the cans on some of them.
It didn't used to be, but now it is. (.I noticed this recently.)

I think it's fine, as I said I did my last one with regular black underbody wax and was fine.
I think the risk is if it's not allowed to cure a day or two.
I.e. If they (Dinitrol.) say not to use it some people may well spray it on and drive it up to temp right away.
Obviously in such a short timespan the solvents may not have evaporated.

SteveG - Thank-you for that. I will take a look.
Makes sense for me to do mine as it's on,y a couple of months old and clean as a whilstle at the moment so an easy job.
Thumbs Up

One thing to be said, my old sump stayed in A1 condition with it Dinitrol treated.
It was only the seal that was the reason I had to swap it out. Thumbs Up Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️
