Gun storage
I have a 90 HT and I’m not keen on just having the guns laid out in the back, especially the rifle as i suspect I knocked it out of zero going over a pretty sever level crossing. How does everyone transposed their guns, pics would be great but any ideas would be much appreciated.

The rear of my HT is split in half lengthwise; the left is 1big dog box and the right is free for storage. You can sort of see from the image below and you will see shotgun slips just laid on the bed.

Cheers
Col

I haven’t got much shooting lined up this season, but what I have got has all fallen in a short period. In the space of 4 days I’m out 3 times, first at Sydenham, then at a farm shoot near home and then up to the Bodfuan shoot in north wales. I’ll need to earn some brownie points after that. If I can get the wheels on the 110 balanced I’ll take that, plenty of space for the dogs. I’ve not been to Sydenham for a few years, it will be interesting to see how the new keeper is getting on. Just hoping I can remember how to shoot. Shocked

Oh lovely mate, i noticed the funny reg and only noticed its now supposed to say FALK.

Was it an organised shoot or what? The falklands have always interested me. Tiny little colony trying to make an honest living. Sounds like the place for me. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

Organised shot, everyone knows everyone out there. I went there for 10 days, made some new mates, trout fishing, shooting, flying, off roading, walking up hills, seeing lots of penguins, seals, whales, dolphins eagles, finding 1982 plane wrecks and giving my respects to tonthe fallen from 82 and visiting historic places, plus mixing the the local communities. Only regret was not going for longer.

They are surviving down there. No unemployment! And they have oil now Whistle

How do you get there? Fly to brazil still? Or to RAF still offer dead heads to/from ascension? I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

Curtesy of the RAF. Refuel cape Verdi as ascension is having a new runway. Not a bad flight at all and just easier going straight into mount pleasant. Costs twice as much though Big Cry

You'll hate me then! My main rifle (unsurprisingly a Sako 85 .243 in Synthetic Stainless) got zeroed four or five years ago. Since then it's travelled all over the country in the back of the 110 in a thin slip, including whilst been off roading / laning before shooting. Still smack on, can certainly outshoot me but can still comfortably put 5 shots inside a 50p piece at 100 yards without too much difficulty.

They weren't cheap but went for Optilock mounts and they've allowed me to dismantle the rifle to fit it inside rucksacks and completely trust them now to just simply slide on and tighten up and will still be bob on. Probably come apart 50+ times over the last 5 years and never had an issue.

Case in point just chucked in the back of the 110 last week, drove all the way to the Highlands with a switch to Dad's Shogun half way and then just laying in the boot (no slip) on the estate tracks until a hind was shot.

Love that little setup but could do with a slightly less powerful scope on it. Ed

If you knocked a rifle out of zero going over a level crossing, no matter how 'severe', there is something very wrong with the scope &/or mounts! A decent set of mounts properly attached to the rifle holding a good quality scope should perform exactly as described above.

i did my first day at a new shoot in Carlisle last Saturday. Good day for me with 18 Pheasant and 1 teal.

I'm back there on the 1st and 15th Dec and have a day booked for the 29th Dec that my brother in law organises which is in Dunsop Bridge, the geographical centre of the UK.
