Hmmm that sounds like a bit of a worry. Try flipping them around the other way in the holder.. read that in another thread.. circuit might have a diode in it or similar.

Further more now lost stereo and clock, so must have blown a fuse? How you blow a fuse changing a bulb is beyond me, but should probably have a look in the light next time.

The interior lights share a fuse with the stereo and clock. The back plate of the interior lights is permanently live and it's very easy to short them out when fitting non-standard bulbs. For this reason, I insulated the fittings on mine with some plasticard to shield the back plates :

[quote="LandRoverAnorak"]I've just fitted three of those festoon LED's from Conrads and they're (literally) brilliant. A very nice warm white light with no low powered glow like the cheap ones that they replaced.

I think I'd like to do the same but with blue.

Can you fine people confirm I have the right bulbs? And size at 36mm? I have measured mine, and I thought it came out at 38mm, but I don't see a 38mm

Look forward to hearing from you Bow down Regards

you can get 36mm or 39mm festoons. 39's fit.. but 36mm are the originals as far as I know.

just checked the festoons from Conrad.. 39mm.

they are a step change from the nasty harsh blue-ish white cheapos from Ebay. Exactly the same colour balance as the original incandescent bulb, just a massive step change in light output.

To be honest these ones have 6 emitters per festoon, they do a 3 emitter version for half the light output and for the front light above the driver it would probably be enough!

not had a chance to try the light bars yet - car only just back after 1.5 weeks in the paint shop and getting a new ignition barrel and lock set fitted

Cheers for the reply.

On another note.. In relation to the lights....
I ordered a Terrafirma snow cowl from amazon... £39.99 bit expensive but I trust amazon and like the money back guarantee..

Anyways it was supposed to arrive on the 5th, so dropped them an email on the 7th letting them know it hadn't arrived, they said they could send one out Monday over night, if I wanted......
Well I'd actually seen the same thing cheaper on another site, so asked for a refund..
Then I looked for it but couldn't remember the site I went on.. So popped do to ebay and found the same Terrafirma snow cowl, even cheaper than the cheap site at 22.99..
Which meant I could buy the lights, and dash lights for less than what I was going to pay for the snow cowl!
BONUS! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Regards
Adam

Ha, good result.

Also what a coincidence as I just fitted a mudstuff snow cowl last night! I think I've probably paid over the odds though given your eBay find.

Just to close this one out.. tried the LED bars last night in the car. the colour balance is great, not harsh at all.

https://www.atenlighting.co.uk/50cm-slim-led-fitting.html

I ordered bright, warm white, 50cm long.

Mounted on the side panels its really bright on the eyes, not really useful when you stand at the back of the car as you are squinting. The light is quite directional too, the LED bars have to be angles down ~45deg towards the floor to get the best use of them.

best option in my opinion - a single 1m long bar mounted above the rear door, 45deg downwards, facing forwards. No shining in the eyes and in conjunction with the LED Festoon bulb its like blackpool illuminations in the back!

I'm mounting the 2-off 50cm ones above the rear door in this fashion over the next week or two.

Also to come back on this from my earlier experience. Fuse replaced (stereo and clock working again) and the interior bulbs are working properly now. The Aten blubs now work properly and are a great bright warm light, not the rather harsh white light I had previously, so now very pleased. Thumbs Up James
