Sad Sad Day RIP Mr T-max
It is with a tear in my eye that my trusty T-max compressor Had a seizure and has stopped breathing. Taken from us at the tender age of 10.9 years old It is pumped countless tyres back to full pressure, Helped reset many a tyre bead and even aided in many a workshop task when crud needed to be blown away.
Willing to take on any task one noteworthy occasion was inflating a friends double airbed after a late night puncture repair, Even if it did mean running my old V8 disco to keep the battery topped up. Even to the disdain of the contiguous camped who didn't appreciate the heroics and requirement of a largely unsilenced 3.9 V8 running at 12:30 am. Whistle

Due to the relative sudden death a post mortem will be commenced and a burial arranged. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

On other news this means I need a new compressor Single Vs Twin ARB who's got what? Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest

The ARB ones are a significant step up in cost from the T-MAX

I would say they were good for the price vs age!
I would get one but it's the power supply issue that would be a pain a pain to sort out. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

Rumor has it the current crop of T-max are not made like they used too...

Honestly I would like a hard mounted vehicle compressor as 99% of my requirements are within air hose reach of the vehicle and future proofing towards other ARB air reliant products.
Whilst the current setup has worked I not one to change it up and was happy to put up with the whole dive under the seat to connect it. Now I have a chance to upgrade the setup and the performance and in light of future planned Overland trips It's time to make that happen

Not to mention as a by product it'll make YT vid to boot. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest

I have never regretted splashing out on a twin portable ARB, it is almost as quick as a workshop airline to inflate a tyre.

I keep debating single vs twin ARB. Because I plan to use it between defender and work van, and for various trailers, I need the portable version, and can't quite stomach the cost of the twin portable!

I have the ARB twin and it is a fantastic piece of kit, expensive but will last a lifetime. I use it between my def and my works van so is always handy and if not needed is left secure at home.

Engine mounted for me. Ridiculous output - keeps cutting out (filled the tank) when running my 50A plasma and that's when the engine was just idling. Ed

I got sick and tired of replacing dead ARB compressors and went T-Max on the grounds that, if it lasts as long as any of the ARBs I'll be quids in. The T-Max has now lasted for 5 years, 2 years longer than the best ARB I had, and is still going strong. Would I buy ARB again ? Nope, overpriced, unreliable and cost more to repair than the T-Max cost new.

My T-Max is permanently plumbed in with a pressure switch (mounted on a dead ARB as it happens !), a reservoir cylinder and with an airline connector at each door.

That said, the ARB compressor in our 90, in a MUCH dryer and cleaner environment, has now lasted 5 years but then it only gets used once every 6 months whereas the T-Max on my 100 inch is used for winch freespool, air locking diffs and airing up tyres at least once a month so does have a harder life as well as being a much damper and dirtier environment. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
