numberplate brackets, check for rust.
P022 safety recall look for any body alignment issues, especially cappings and foam seals where roof meets body on sides and rear check all rivets on the body are still present any water ingress passenger or drivers footwell the first service is really just an oil change and you can have warranty work done whenever an issue crops up so I'd say just give it a good examination after youve cleaned it. also if you know what youre looking at on the underside, get it on a ramp at a friendly indy and see if there is anything to look at like transfer box seal, diff seals, anti roll bar mounts, drag links and the ends, track rod and the ends etc, exhaust mounts, springs, shock mounts and shocks generally. |

Mine is in Hillendale for Parking Brake recall on Saturday
I am also getting them to look at Head Lamp problems. After using main beam head lamps flicker on and off for a bit this can be fun late at night on unlit roads (Relay or switch I suspect) worth checking yours. My Mud flaps brackets are also rusty - Will look at them also Previously we have had heat shields resecured and software upgrade on ECU - These removed the "bag of hammers" sound at 2300 to 2600 rpm However as far as I know my number plate is fine mainly because I have moved it myself since my tail flap has been removed for camper to fit on the back 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

Check the headlamp bezels aren't turning to dust. Steve.

The other common cause of bizarre headlight behaviour (including them going off completely at inconvenient moments) is either the light switch or (more commonly) the dipswitch overheating and partially melting allowing the contacts to move. This generally gets progressively worse since as the contacts become more misaligned they get hotter. |

RFT will you let me know how you get on with Hillendale as I am thinking of taking mine there also for service and recall. I'm working on the theory that they have plenty of Defender experience because of the rural location. It would be good to hear about your experience especially with the recall thoroughness..?? Just thought I'd pipe in with my Hillendale experiences...
Can't fault them at all, despite Big Black throwing tantrums and me spending quite a lot of time there a few months back they've always been professional and friendly, I've always been provided with a courtesy car and always got mine back valeted. Plus they're only 5 minutes away from me! Win win!  |

Hillendale once again were excellent.
Recall all sorted, no oil leak so no need to change pads. Headlight problem found to be relay that was hot, switch contacts all ok. The staff are polite, efficient, knowledgeable and the coffee machine makes a fine coffee. They washed the 130 and fitted a spare wheel cover. A very satisfied customer, worth the 70mile drive.
