Self-tapping screws - hole too big
I've just started replacing a few lights on my '96 110, and on a few of them the holes for the self-tapping screws have been worn to the point where the screw no longer holds the light. What are my options here? None of the ideas I have in my head are ideal:

1) Rotate the light and form new holes
2) Add a bit of metal the other side of the hole for the screw to bite in to
3) Use a stainless bolt/nut alternative to the self-tapping screw (if I can find the right size and head)

I'm guessing option 1 is the most common. Thought I'd see if anyone's got any other options or opinions.

Which lights?

If you mean the round ones (indicators, brake, side lights etc) then they either had a plastic plug (fits in a square hole) which the screws went into, like a rawlplug.

Or the earlier ones had a small captive spire nut clipped over the panel hole and the screws went into these - these often rust and fall off when you remove old screws.

I'm not sure when Rover changed the fixing method.

it probably had the spire clips originally, but looks like it's been repaired/repainted at some point, they probably got lost/disintegrated when that was done.

Another quick light related question. This time it's the side repeaters. I should probably mention that I'm fitting this kit: eBay Item No. 361934176052

The connection for the side repeaters just doesn't feel tight. Has anyone fitted this kit from 'boltonbits'? The connection goes in as you can see from the photo, but I don't think it'll be too long before it's working itself lose. Am I missing a trick? Should I just wrap it in electrical tape? Photos for reference....

Ray - I thought so too when I first saw them, but they're designed to fit as per the smaller original rectangular ones. I haven't actually put them in yet, but they look like they're going to be okay from a visual inspection.
