Excellent work Thumbs Up that really does make a difference, it looks like a newly thatched roof again! I didn't realise they got that mossy. Ray

Thanks Ray and Rosco Thumbs Up

Yes it does make a lot of difference to the roof, the worse moss off all is the bright green moss that grows to about 4"-6" high, that really really rots the reed and does a lot of damage Shocked 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

Just another little pic or two for you Wink

Normally we do porches on the front of the property's which are small compared to the main roof, so we had to rethatch a section of the main roof, the bit that you cant see and we had to reridge the main roof, as you will see in the last pic Wink then when the scaffolding was all took down, we had to come back and do this porch, sorry there are no before pic's ...........................................

The next pic is of the house with the porch, you can see why it's a big porch Laughing

Sorry for the not so good quality of the pic as i took it from across the road on the next ridging job Wink

The house is very big and is the highest roof we go on as it needs 3-4 lifts of scaffolding to get up so we can work on it Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

Clayton,

Please keep them coming. I could follow this thread all day. The work you and other thatchers do is fascinating. I love the organic form of the contours all around the finished structure. Much more attractive than the modern roof design with the angular tiles and sharp lines.

Any shots of some of the adornments thatchers often add? I love the owls, hawks and other animals that you guys craft and stick on top of the ridge.

Many thanks for sharing your work. Bow down

Andy

I saw this the other day and thought of you Clayton. Quite appropriate to the comment above too. Never seen elephants before, especially not in Essex!

^^^ Thank you James for putting the pic up, very interesting style of thatched roof as it comes down to the ground, that would be a big fire hazard down this way and i cant start to think how much the insurance on that would be Shocked

I have not seen Elephants on a roof at all, seen most things, so that's a first for me Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

Thank you Rosco Very Happy

Yes we have been making the most of the nice sun, but at times it has been too hot, so we have to take a break from the heat Cool the best ways we found are sitting in the shade for thirty to sixty minutes or the most used way is one of us goes and gets some ice creams Laughing Wink 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
