Hi Qwert, yes I am going right through it as much as possible but thankfully as MSE says some of the past problems have been resolved.

I have sealed all the windows properly with windscreen sealing compound (the stuff that stays sticky!) It is not done during production

; Also in the corners of the window rubbers where they just push a blob in during production - useless!

sprayed Wurth wax protection in and around all hinges, under capping's where poss, in engine bay, the unpainted rivets, wing mirror arms, headlight rims, and any small screw heads etc it is does not make a mess and looks shiny so good for all areas which can be seen;

I have painted the chassis, rear cross-member and detailed the other components with POR-15 a very hard paint but being careful not to paint over any nuts etc that will need to come off eventually, those I have painted with normal chassis black or put protective copper grease or under-seal on;

I have sprayed Dintrol cavity wax into the box sections, rear cross-member, tub spreaders and other difficult places to get at;

I have yet to then go over with ordinary under-seal;

fabricate a bracket to strengthen the rear mud flaps mountings in a way so that no more holes need drilling;

treat the doors with Supertrol and spray the window motors with protective grease;

cavity wax door pillars and wax the bulkhead;

and seal the roof join when it eventually splits open.

There is still a lot to do which I will have forgotten about for instance the capping's will need to be taken off and galvanised at some point.

It will be undersealed tomorrow hopefully if i get time. I don't care about drips and over spray - it's not for show it's for preservation

This is what I am doing others will have different methods and products

It did look nice and shiny when everything was painted - should have taken a photo then

It will look worse tomorrow when the under-seal is sprayed on

It will have taken nearly 3 days labour in total just to do the underside

but it is worth it if the vehicle is a keeper...

I am trying to get it done before the weekend as we are going camping in her for a car rally and "The Swedish Day" @ the Haynes Motor Museum this Sunday....

Looks good underneath Zag! I'm sure all of your efforts will prove worthwhile. It would be nice if the underneath of mine looked like that! But it's a bit late for it now. Going to get it waxed this summer though I think to get some protection under there and make it look a bit neater. Your research obviously reached the conclusion that Dinitrol was a better option than the alternatives? I was looking at the Bilt Hamber website the other day, but it seems they don't do a heavy duty underseal, only cavity wax - and I'd like to go for one manufacturer for a complete 'system'. If I bought one new, I'd be doing the same things that you are - I have similar levels of obsessiveness! (Hence the clean wheel

)

Snow cover looks good as well! Only just noticed that. Are you spraying it? Or decided to leave it black? Think it looks better black in my opinion.

Thanks Green Machine, yes I'm going to leave it black. People have banged on about the quality of the snow cover before and I thought it's only a bit of bent ally what's the big deal BUT when you see it in the flesh, man do they produce a good product. It's faultless and the coating is perfect, I don't want to mess that up

It's overdue for a good polish and wax sesh!

Was hoping to do it before winter came, but the garage is full of Lightweight.

That snow cover does look good though, I'm quite tempted by one myself...

Impressed with the efforts youve gone to, Ive also purchased dinitrol and am doing mine this weekend will let you know how I get on, scared of getting it wet before its done, its not seen rain or water yet except when ive washed it. Im using Mil spec wax off RUSTBUSTERS for the cavities and black dinitrol where you can see it, got a very reasonable quote off them to do the job but didnt want to drive over to them and then loose the car for 2 days, 1 day why they cleaned and dried it, its brand new but they wouldnt accept it didnt need a day cleaning and drying so I cut my losses bought the gear and am doing it myself . Your car looks great all the best Rob

You know I was thinking there could be a market for this, i.e. contacting new owners and finishing off the product for them - great job

Snow cover not cheap but VERY NICE

If you go to Home, there are threads on how to do it in the Pictures & Videos section.

I have a Photobucket account which is easy also you just copy and paste them onto to hear.

You can also up load the details and little pic of your Landy in your profile so it shows under your avatar or name.

thats a cracking land rover youve got, it looks lovely in silver ive been reading your posts with interest as we are wanting to keep wurzell long term and although we had the underneath dinitrol'd when we took delivery im going to be following your suit by doing the window seals, door internals pillars also the bulkhead what wax are you going to be using on this please keep up the good work

Hello mate, we should be dropping down to Beaminster (your old neck of the woods!) soon, will be nice to see the ole place again. I am going to use Dinitrol cavity wax again, it is good stuff out of the aerosol can with the 360 degree extension nozzle on and has the advantage that once it has set it won't re-drip when it's get hot like other makes. You know also that the wax won't just slide down the sides leaving just a trace of oil like other makes can sometimes.
