I'm absolutely amazed at that list of things to do with a vehicle which has only 106 miles on the clock! Surely this shouldn't be necessary even with a vehicle that can be as problematic from new as a Defender?
Are they really so bad they're rusting from new? Don't they put any under body rust protection on these days? I bought a new Td5 Defender in 2003 and am sure it had a black coating of some kind underneath. I'm still very much undecided about returning to LR for my next vehicle and this sort of post really does nothing for my confidence that to do so would be wise. AlanH. |

Excellent news
![]() Ours is at the dealer just waiting for paperwork from Land Rover. We are sitting on a ferry coming back from Denmark (Very rough night - so we didn't sleep either!). We can't wait ![]() Hopefully since ours has no electric windows or carpet or A/C then we will have fewer jobs to sort out!! Really pleased that you got what you wanted. ps- our Series has not progressed much since picking up the bonnet ![]() |

AlanH - there is nothing in my list you have to do I am just being pernickety as I will be taking her to my grave and want to preserve her as best I can. It is no big deal just slapping grease, paint or sealant on
![]() ![]() Nellie, sorry to hear about your overnight trip. I am still recovering from going out in a Force 6, 3 days ago. Not a big wind but my sea legs aren't that good - why have a boat then - don't ask, I am persevering!! Good news Nellie is ready, can't wait to see the pics of her and of your expedition ![]() No my restoration hasn't progressed either ![]() |

Congrats on getting one finally. You never know, most of what you list will probably not even be an issue...what sort of warranty comes with a pre-reg one? 2011 110 USW

TIG UP's got it. This is not a works vehicle to keep chopping in, it's more of an interest car which I will never sell. She will be treated like a classic. I have never spent more than 11K on an everyday car but this has cost me 28K ![]() ![]() I was going to get a cheaper Tdi or Td5 but couldn't find anything decent and couldn't be bothered to start another rebuild and the Jag was never used and to make 10K from it was VERY tempting. The SAAB 96 Two Stroke I have just bought is better for the family as it has 4 seats so it makes sense AND despite niggles I really love the PUMA's. |

Ensure the bottom of the doors have plenty of waxoil in there, first place rust starts.
If i had one from new, the first thing i would do is a proper coat of waxoil under, inbetween and inside out! |
