Depends if the Calibration is matched to the exhaust?

You might find your Defender will end up surging as turbo is trying to control... which isn't ideal.

[...] Normally he would only measure smoke particles for a diesel, but he says CO2, CO and HC shouldn't be a problem. As long as I don't mention the word "decat" he is legally OK. Pity he can't fit it for me but he would be breaking the law. He also can't measure NOx (EGR blanking) at the exhaust but says it might be possible via diagnostics.
Anyone know about this (I haven't noticed on Scangauge II)?

Matt

I read this (old) thread with interest. Did you finally measure CO and HC before and after the de-cat-project and can post the values?
Did anyone compare emissions before and after the de-cat? Important would be the milage of the vehicle as well to evaluate the potential coating of the cat-cells that causes reduced output/catalysis...

Cheers, so is it better saving primary energy (lower consuption, lower particle emission) or wasting primary energy due to collecting particles and burning them to ash... Wink

Yes! De-cat lowers consumption, DPF rises it. So the question is what's better. Saving energy or particles...
