Hi Jim, yes I went through the hinge and into to door. A bit of a pain to do but a lot neater job in the end. I'm thinking of getting a new set of arms and drilling them then painting them properly as I stupidly missed this stage out when doing mine so they are starting to corrode

One job always leads to another right? ![]() It'd a good idea though, one that a few of us could use 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW 1956 Series 1 Hard-top 1958 Series 1 Soft-top |

How do you mean? Is it you don't want to drill the ally hinges? Here's a link that shows a way to fit them with drilling the hinges http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10...ation.html Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

That's the one Ray. Mind I am not convinced that I like a black hinge on Tonga Green. I also love the original plain look, theres some lovely engineered hinges with price tags to suit, but a bit too bling imo. Again decisions decisions ![]() Still you get a frost this morning to check your handiwork ? |

You could always get the hinges painted up body colour?
No frost this morning so not fully checked yet but I did test for power to everything while fitting the wiring so it should all work ![]() I need to sort out seat heaters now to wire up the genuine switches I put in place about 3 or 4 years ago too ![]() My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

This thread has put me seriously behind with my work!!!!
Figured I would start reading this thread whilst eating a sandwich for a late lunch - only trouble couldn't stop reading, and now gone 5pm! Excellent job and wish I had a few of your skills, not to mention time....My TD5 currently looks how yours started off - same colour, minus 2 doors. ![]() |

We had frost here
![]() ![]() Fuse position 33 for the heated seats if its wired ? Mine wasn't on either, so I just put and inline fuse in. There are a number of ignition feeds there. You'll be pleased you bought the genuine switches 3-4 years ago............... £80 each now ![]() Im leaning towards genuine painted hinges, They will probably work out similar money I expect, wonder how many years they'll last ?!?! |
