Suitcase full of Goodies
Well Lads and Lasses arrived back in Aussie after 5 weeks in the mother country and couldn't wait to open the suitcase. I'd bought the full BAS 170 Remap complete with new inter cooler and silicone hoses and was chaffing at the bit to get it fitted. Fitted the new ECU and downloaded the remaps from the BAS Tool but initially could only get
the standard map to run. Car would start but no remap. The 150 and 170 Remaps were on the BAS Tool but each time that I tried to download them onto the ECU the download would abort. After a couple of more attempts with no joy and starting to get a wee bit worried I got in touch with Pete at Bell Auto Services. He could not have been more helpful. He asked me to send him an email with the ECU info on, which is done automatically through the BAS Tool. Problem was solved in a couple of minutes. All it was a couple of the ECU serial numbers had been typed in the wrong order on the Remap Info. Plugged the tool into my computer and updated the Info and Bobs your uncle. Tried the download on the car and it worked a treat. Have only downloaded the 150 Remap for the time being but what a difference that has made. Better driving experience altogether. I want to put the Inter cooler and Silicone Hoses on before I do the 170 Remap. If you're sitting on the fence thinking of Remapping DO IT!!. Get in touch with Pete at Bell Auto Services, he's a real gentleman. Can't wait to get the rest of the gear fitted and try the 170 out. Thanks again Pete. Very Happy Very Happy Thumbs Up

Agree with you all the way.

Except just loaded the 170 straight away - never tried the 150 yet.

Also did the Intercooler and Slickshift.

Slickshift also quite an impressive improvement.

Yeah Sadi and James got the Slikshift as well as the Inter Cooler and Silicone hoses. What are they like to fit. Thinking the Inter Cooler and hoses might be a bit of job but can't wait to get it done and get the 170 Remap on the go. Any tips on the fitting would be welcome lads. Smile Thumbs Up

Slickshift - there is a nice YT video on BAS website or under Synchro Gearboxes.

Thanks lads for the replies. Sadi that's a bloody good write up on the Inter Cooler change out. I've just got to psych myself up to doing it. I think I'll print out your write up and sit in front of the engine compartment going over it in my head a couple of times before I actually start the job. Thanks again for the heads up. Thumbs Up
Ken.

Apart from the fascinating content - seriously good to hear the UK described as the mother country. Let's hope we can rebuild old friendships post Brexit. One wife - livid

Totally agree Ian. You never know, it could happen. Beats me why we parted ways in the first place. Thumbs Up

Well Lads and Lasses I fitted the Slickshift today and boy is it aptly named. Couldn't believe how neat the gear change is. Took me just over an hour to do and is pretty straight forward if you follow the video on the BAS site.
The only thing I didn't need was the electricians tape on the gear lever stub. Tried it, but had to take it off as the gear stick was too tight of a fit. Oh! yeah and there was a black plastic spacer thingybobby supplied that wasn't needed. Must be for another model gearbox. I hope Confused Well another job bites the dust, now only the inter cooler and hoses to do. Very Happy Thumbs Up

Agree fully.

Also had to remove the insulation tape to achieve a proper fit.

The black thingy actually supposed to replace the OEM one - but if it works fine - just keep it in a safe place.

Did you have any problems with the carpet?

I also put some extra grease on the Low Range selector lever - as the OEM grease is a hardish white grease.

Enjoy !!

Hi Sadi, Didn't have too much trouble with the carpet, Just a little bit of a fiddle getting it round the side of the hand brake. Good to know what the extra bit was for. Didn't think too much of that white grease either. Thumbs Up
