All three types in the end got the same treatment a socket on an impact wrench even though the caps moved prior to this I couldnt pull them off as you described so put the socket on them and spun them and off they came, if you dont have an impact wrench a socket on a long bar will take longer but will do it too.

Left is the cap for the locking nut, its got a concave dimple.
There should be a plastic removal tool in the kit with the wheel brace, jack handles and lock nut adaptor.
There is times when the adaptor strips/pins bend making it hard to use, particularly if used with a rattle gun.
We don't have the theft problems over here so I've replaced mine with standard nuts.
I'm not getting caught out 200 miles from help with a stuck locking nut.

Middle is the standard wheel nut, a clean dome finish.
Sometimes you will feel some movement, its normal and is not a cap.
Use a 27mm socket as mentioned.

Right is the spare wheel nut, it's got a convex dimple.
As with the standard nut it's not a cover even though it may have a little movement.
Use the 27mm socket to remove.
The thread in this nut allows for fitting over the longer studs on the spare wheel carrier. Cheers,

They just sound like the factory wheel nuts to me. As everyone else has said, They have a non-removable stainless finisher on them, there is usually a bit of play in the finisher, but you just stick a 27mm socket over them and undo the nut with the finisher in place.

The spare wheel nuts are different to the road wheel nuts, the locking nuts all have a concave top, the road wheel nuts are more or less flat topped, and the spare wheel nuts have a raised dome on them.

A photo of the nuts you have would help.

Maybe stating the obvious but have you tried the black cap remover that is supplied in the tool kit - the locking wheel nut adapter is normally held in it. Push/ tap it on until it clicks it on and it clipped over the wheel nut cover, pull it off and it pulls off the cover.

And if you do put the cap remover over a normal nut it will get stuck, but you can fit the wheel brace inside it to remove the nut, complete with cap remover.

The other two nuts will be standard alloy nuts. The caps won't come off. 27mm socket can be tight but is the correct size and will fit over the finishing caps

Severe & embarrassing apology

So I revisited the problem yesterday & you chaps are right & I am wrong

My nuts are now loose.
Still need to find something way more user friendly & black for my Bowlers.

There are black versions of the standard nuts available.

Those ones from Mudstuff only fit M6, M8 and M10 nuts, so they're somewhat small for 27mm wheel nuts.

I have just fitted the ones from LRI last weekend, they are painted not anodised so need to be mindful, i removed old silver ones with with impact wrench but fitted black ones with socket and long bar then torque wrench and no paint damage. If you want black anodised then I found a company but they will cost nearly £300 including locking nuts

Found this today and checked my wheel nuts. Found 2 of the raised dimple spare wheel nuts on the wheels and swapped them with the smooth head nuts that were incorrectly on the spare wheel.
As a bonus the annoying rattle when closing the back door has now been solved.
