Upgrades
Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a 2000 130 from Germany, and the wait on shipping is killing me...

I already know i want to do the followin

Old Man Emu springs, 30mm lift front and 40mm rear.
LED lights
Fox Non adjustable shocks to suit lift
Alive stage 3/4 kit
P15 engine upgrade
NNN ecu upgrade
Single Mass Clutch upgrade
Cruise control
LR to RR wheel spacers
20x9.5 wheels
305/50R20 tires
Stainless exhaust manifold
3" to 3.5" stepped exhaust system
Front and rear larger brake rotors
X-brake E-brake upgrade
ARB diff covers
Air bags for extra capacity

I expect some of the mods are not advisable, but i have a lot of spare parts from previous builds, and thought why not use them on this build...

I am going to use this vehicle as a weekend ride, i will have 60% highway and 40% desert driving, the desert driving will be a mix of compact and loose sand. In the summer i pull a jetski and in the winter i haul dirtbikes...I also have a 24' boat i tow, but i may just use my Tahoe for that...

Re the lift, a 130 leans forward quite significantly already, so unless you plan on carrying heavy loads I would not lift the rear more than the front.

And re the wheel size: they must have considerable offset to not increase the already not very brilliant turning circle, but that will cause extra strain on the wheel bearrings.

Hope this helps, enjoy your 130! Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000

Why single mass clutch? I have seen it in two cars - Def 110 and Disco 2 - both heavy loaded for hard offroad trips and botch ditched it back to dual mass. Without dual mass cars were rattling like a dog when engine was running on idle or a bit higher. From outside it was like there is something broken. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

If your taking a European spec defender to a hotter climate it might be worth thinking about the following.

R380 gearbox oil cooler

And high capacity sump for the lt230 transfer box

Way ahead of you...

Already on order...

Here is another question, has anyone Twinchraged their LR Defenders?

Where as to add a supercharger before the turbo to give it more bite down low and keep the power going up top?

The dual mass is nice for comforts, but once you start pushin the power levels up, you better off removing it.

It will rattle a little, and it will sound a little odd, but them be the trade offs in the quest for more power.

Jetski in the summer, or dirtbikes in the winter.

I went with the 500kg 40mm lift OME rear springs, may get the 300kgs and use the airbags for similar results, and will get the 30mm front springs.

This way i raise the vehicle up just a tad, and gain the extra capacity.

I scored the MAXXTRAC wheels, 20x9 with a 10mm offset. Dont need wheel spacers, and will give me that little more room for the 305 tires...

Both of cars I have experience with single mass were used for competition (not professional), so the power was not just a bit higher. And both went back for dual mass, without any problem. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

And yet I ran a Rakeway single mass flywheel for years. To be totally honest on my car there was almost no noticeable increase in noise or harshness and I would never go back to a dual mass if I had a TD5 again. 2001 90 HT 6.0LS/6spdAuto.
2003 90 td5 soft top.
2014 90 XS SW 2.2.

Dual or single, i have read that there really isnt any difference in driving nor comfort. Personally i prefer single as its less maintenance, and easier to service...

I found an exedy SMF and HD clutch, but GOOD GOD the price is higher than Rakeway's...

After talkin with Alive they set me up with one of their friends who specialize in clutches and he gave me a great price, with shippin to kuwait, But i feel i will have him ship it to Alive and let them crate it up with my stuff so i may save on shippin...

So i have been playin with the idea to twincharge my little beast with either a 1600 or 2300 whipple charger. I would put the whipple before the turbo charger as not to suck up too much hp to keep the boost up. The nice think about these whipples are they are thin, 100mm. And about 250mm long. So if i do install the aircon i can lay this right over it.

May need to bend the hood up just a little but i am fine with that.

I hope to get 5psi above idle and let the turbo kick in and take over.

The inlet is convienently in the rear and the output dead center of the lower side.I will have to fab custom inlets and outlets, but the beltin should be simple enough.

Still disagree with signal clutch. Makes it a pig to drive, transmission shock and all sorts. My 110 is pushing 200bhp and 450nm standard clutch with no slipping or issues.
